We are happy to provide intravenous (IV) sedation to help our Murfreesboro, TN patients enjoy a more favorable dental experience. IV sedation may be used on individuals that experience stress or fear about visiting the dentist. This therapy at Implant & General Dentistry uses anti-anxiety medication that's administered straight into your vein. The medicine can help you to stay relaxed and calm throughout your dental treatments. Although you aren't really asleep throughout the procedure, the comfort and short-term memory loss may make you feel like you've been asleep. Andrew Flipse, D.M.D. may also adjust the amount of medication based upon what you need and to ensure your safety. To find out more about IV sedation, please contact our office at your earliest convenience.
"Great people who demonstrate care Never have been a fan of doctor visits, but necessary certainly. This office from the front door until leaving communicates care for the individual. They explain everything in advance, treat you with kindness, and do their best to meet your needs painlessly. I travel a good distance to get this professional and personal care."- D.R / RateABiz / Mar 04, 2019

"About 10 days ago I had a consultation at Implant and General Dentistry of Middle Tennessee to have an implant finished. I left the office feeling at ease, confident to proceed with Dr. Flipse. Today I went in for the healing cap placement. Everyone in the office is super nice and caring, which immediately made me less nervous. I waited about 3 minutes before I was seen. A little numbing gel and a small injection. The procedure was done in very little time, with no pain whatsoever! Next appointment already scheduled for the completion and my new tooth. After moving from California and leaving my dentist of 35 years... I was looking for a great dentist/practice. I totally recommend Implant and General Dentistry of Middle Tennessee."- H.S. / Google / May 15, 2019

The best candidates for intravenous sedation are those dealing with stress about undergoing an extensive dental therapy. This sedation method makes it possible to receive the dental care that you want without distress or anxiety. Before undergoing therapy, Dr. Flipse will talk with you regarding the sedation options our office provides.
What To Expect
To receive intravenous sedation, a needle will be placed inside a vein and the medication will be administered. You will start to notice the effects in a few seconds. Dr. Flipse will then begin to carry out the procedure while tracking the IV levels simultaneously. After the procedure is complete, the IV will be taken out, and you'll feel alert in a couple of minutes.
It's advised that you do not operate a vehicle for a period of 24 hours after IV sedation. You should arrange for a friend to get you from our office and drive you home. You might feel exhausted for the remainder of the afternoon so we recommend that you drink appropriate amounts of water to remain hydrated and relaxed if at all possible. Sometimes, you could become nauseous or experience temporary memory loss. These symptoms will typically fade away within 24 hours. If you notice any abnormalities or if your symptoms persist, then you need to call our office right away.
Intravenous sedation might or might not be covered in part by your dental insurance. Before approving the sedation, our billing staff will get in touch with your insurance provider to determine any out-of-pocket expenses. Implant & General Dentistry also offers financial planning and payment alternatives to make therapy less expensive for many of our patients.
