Teeth Whitening

Cosmetic Dentistry

Including preparation and treatment time, the ZOOM! Professional whitening procedure typically takes about an hour and a half.  Just imagine being able to relax with a warm blanket, watch tv or listen to music and walk away a short time later with teeth up to 10 shades whiter!

Zoom! Whitening Procedure:

  • Step one
  • Evaluation appointment

An initial consultation is required to do ZOOM! At this appointment a complete oral evaluation and impressions to fabricate custom whitening trays will be done.  We will also provide you with toothpaste that is specifically designed to decrease sensitivity.  It is recommended that you use this paste for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment to maximize its effectiveness.

  • Step two
  • Procedure appointment preparation

The procedure is simple! It begins with a short preparation to cover your lips and gums, leaving only your teeth exposed.

  • Step three
  • Whitening Gel Application

ZOOM! whitening gel, which was designed to work with the ZOOM! light, is applied.

  • Step four
  • Light Activation Treatment

You are then given protective eyewear and the procedure begins. The light and gel work gently together to break up stain and discoloration.

The gel is applied for 3 fifteen minute sessions. During this time, you can relax, watch TV or listen to music. An optional 4th fifteen minute session is available if you desire an extra boost for your smile.

NiteWhite At-Home Whitening System:

  • Step one
  • Tray Impressions

In the first step of our NiteWhite at-home whitening system, we will take an impression of your teeth. Using this impression, we will create custom bleaching trays that fit perfectly over your teeth. Bleaching trays are similar to a custom made mouth guard, though they are much thinner. A second appointment will be scheduled for you to try on the trays for proper fit, and adjustments will be made if necessary.

  • Step two
  • Tray fitting and bleaching instructions

At this second appointment, you will receive your trays and the NiteWhite bleaching solution. The NiteWhite gel comes in a syringe-shaped delivery device and also in two different strengths. You place a drop or two of gel in each of the tooth impressions in your tray. The tray then snaps into place over your teeth. Because the trays are custom-fitted, the bleach is held in place over the tooth, while staying out of contact with the gums and other soft tissues of the mouth.

  • Step three
  • At-home Whitening

We recommend that you start wearing your whitening trays once a day for 30 minutes. Depending on your sensitivity, you could increase your bleaching time to 1 hour everyday or every other day. Your results will vary depending on how often you bleach and the beginning shade of your teeth. Once the desired shade is reached, you can reduce how often you bleach to maintain the level of brightness.
